Brave Voice Retreat:
Join us May 8-13, 2011 in the heart of the Flint Hills of Kansas for a soulful, life-changing retreat at White Memorial Camp. Each day will feature morning workshops on writing, singing, or songwriting; afternoons to explore, create, replenish; one-on-one consultations with Kelley or Caryn; evening performances and celebrations. What we do with our voice - on the page and aloud - surely will help us reach a wider range of words and notes, discovery and healing, purpose and peace. Come test the waters of your creative spirit and dive into the writing, singing and songwriting you yearn to do on your own or in collaboration with others. $660 includes retreat, all meals and materials, and accommodations; $560 includes all but accommodations.
Caryn has just been appointed the next Poet Laureate of Kansas. Her term started in July of 2009 and runs until 2012
Kelley’s MySpace site features many of her latest songs, plus her recent blog entries and her upcoming concerts.
Caryn has three new books forthcoming in 2009: The Sky Begins At Your Feet, a memoir on cancer, community, and coming home to the body; Landed, a fourth collection of poetry; and My Tree Called Life: Writing and Living Through Serious Illness, an anthology of writing from participants in Turning Point of Kansas City writing workshops Caryn’s led over the last few years.
Kelley’s new CD, “Mercy” has won many glowing reviews, and features three songs co-written by Caryn and Kelley. You can also download Kelley’s song “Forever Love” at the Kelsey Smith Foundation. Kelley wrote and produced this song in commemoration of the life of Kelsey Smith, and in support of the ongoing youth and young adult safety initiatives.
