Afternoon Arts & Activities: Each afternoon features a stretch of open space and time for you to write, sing, create (art supplies will be available), walk, boat, do yoga, nap, or take field trips by foot or car (maps to interesting sites will be available). Laura Ramberg, an accomplished artist, dancer, sculptor and writer, and Ardys Ramberg, an accomplished musician, songwriter, and artist, will be on hand to offer guidance, artistic prompts, support, and help with crafting your art, music, writing or movement. We will also have a massage therapist on site for some of the afternoons if you wish to sign up for a massage (additional charge paid directly to massage therapist). At least two afternoons, Caryn will lead a poetic-inspired (and poetry-filled) yoga session. Kelley and Caryn will also be available for consultations each afternoon (Ardys Ramberg, left, and Laura Ramberg, right).
Songline Project: Our Lives in Song: The traditional Aborigines in Australia follow “Songlines” wherever they walk: notes and melodies to sing depending on where they’re walking, each place t
hey step having a part of a song that they all know. While their songlines relate to place, we can also explore our songlines in time. Throughout the week, we will have a long strip of paper circling our meeting area, marked off with the years of our lives. We invite you to write on the Songline any songs particularly important to you at different ages (e.g. “I’ve been working on the railroad” at age 5, “People who need people” at age 9, “I can’t get no satisfaction” at age 18, “I’m just a happy girl” at age 29, “Give me a ticket for an airplane” at age 49, “I’ll be seeing you” at age 62, etc.). The songs don’t have to have been new or popular at the time they spoke to you — often, we find old songs or rediscover ones from our youth throughout our lives, and the songs can be in any genre. By the end of the week, we’ll have a collective life time line of the soundtracks of our lives.
